Repair works to Emmel Castle, an historic C17th tower-house with adjoining dwelling are nearing completion and were recently visited by members of the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage; Offaly County Council, and National Monuments.

The works have been carried out by Crannog Roofing under the guidance of Howley Hayes Cooney Architecture, CORA Consulting Engineers, and Colm Flynn Archaeology. These important works are supported by Offaly County Council and the Department through the Community Monuments Fund.
