Michael Ring, the Minister for Rural and Community Development has announced that Ballintubber Abbey will receive € 2.6 million in funding from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

The project involves a new wing built over the ruins of the East Range to include additional visitor and parish facilities. The museum will tell the story of the Abbey and monastic life in Ireland. Work will start on site for this exciting project in 2020.
